BANDA SPOT-KICK KEEPS MALLARDS SECOND
Ballinamallard United remain second in the Lough 41 Championship after coming from behind to defeat Institute at the Brandywell.
'Stute needed just a couple of minutes to race into the lead when Joel Bradley-Walsh curled a delightfully executed free-kick around the wall from the edge of the area awarded after Liam Walsh had been fouled.
The Mallards might have levelled around ten minutes later when Lee Warnock struck the crossbar with a header while, not long after that, BJ Banda saw a goalbound effort cleared off the line.
Bradley-Walsh came close to doubling Institute's lead midway through the first half but his header was stopped on the line by Josh McIlwaine.
Then, with just under half-an-hour on the clock, the visitors did level when McIlwaine went down the other end to nod home from a corner.
'Stute were thwarted again ten minutes into the second half by another goalline clearance, this time from Richard Clarke to deny Patrick McLaughlin.
Ballinamallard then edged in front on 63 minutes with what proved to be the winner after Banda converted from the spot after he had been upended inside the area by Shaun Doherty.
