ARDS HIT THREE ON THE ROAD
Ards hit three goals without reply past Institute at the Brandywell to return to second place in the Lough 41 Championship standings.
The sides traded chances during the opening half-an-hour, with Brendan McLaughlin just failing to convert a glorious chance after being played through by Liam Walsh while Salou Jallow posed a particular threat at the other end.
Ards eventually broke the deadlock after half-an-hour when a corner was whipped over from the right and after an initial effort was blocked the ball fell for TJ Murray to volley home from the edge of the box.
It was 2-0 just seven minutes later, with David McAllister sending a looping header into the far corner from the left post after Conall Young had delivered the ball from the right side of the area.
'Stute might have pulled a goal back just before the break only for Jack Bradley to fire narrowly wide at the end of a great run.
McLaughlin then came close from the left edge of the area but his effort fizzed across the face of goal while, for Ards, a number of shots were blocked by the home defence.
However, Ards made sure of the points with their third goal on 70 minutes with a stunning strike from just outside the area into the roof of the net after John Connolly had pushed away a corner.
Institute finished the game with ten men following Shaun Leppard's 88th minute dismissal for dissent.
