LATE GOAL GIVE WELDERS THE EDGE
Callum Byers scored the only goal of the game as HW Welders got the better of Annagh United at the BMG Arena.
The former Dungannon Swifts man struck with three minutes remaining with a header at the back post from a corner as the Welders bounced back from last week's heavy defeat.
Both sides had their chances during the scoreless first half with Ruairi McDonald going close early on for Annagh with a curling effort towards the back post while Gareth Tommons nodded just over for the Welders at the other end. Ryan Harpur then had a chance for the home side just after the half-hour mark.
The Welders squandered an opportunity to go in front just before the break. Annagh keeper Eoin Hughes was shown a straight red card for foul play inside the box but Michael McLellan was unable to beat substitute keeper Matthew Shortt from the spot-kick that followed.
McLellan had another chance around the hour mark only to send a header just wide while, for Annagh, McDonald had an effort turned over by Welders keeper Ben McCauley.
The chances continued for the visitors with Scott McMillan nodding narrowly wide from a corner before they finally made the breakthrough with that late Byers finish.
