TWO MORE FOR HUGHES AS NEWRY START WITH A WIN
Daniel Hughes scored twice to help Newry City begin the Lough 41 Championship campaign with a three-goal win over Knockbreda at The Showgrounds.
After bagging a double in last week's League Cup win he was at it again midway through the first half when, following a bit of pinball in the box from a right-sided corner, he got the final touch to force the ball over the line.
That was how it stayed at the break before, around the hour mark, Fra Brennan made it 2-0 when he was in position at the near post to flick home another corner, this time from the left.
And Hughes sealed the game for Newry not long after that with an expertly delivered 25-yard free-kick over the wall and into the right corner of the net.
