SMYTH BAGS LATE 'BREDA WINNER
Darren Smyth bagged the late winner as bottom of the table Knockbreda picked up a valuable three points with victory over Ballyclare Comrades at Dixon Park.
Only on the pitch less than ten minutes, the 30-year-old ran onto a ball played through the home defence before finishing past Ben McCauley from ten yards.
Ballyclare started the game the brighter of the two sides with Gary Donnelly carving out the first chance after a quarter-of-an-hour only for keeper Lewis Deane to block the ball at the near post.
Further efforts followed through Ciaran Dobbin and Samuel McIlveen while, for 'Breda, Kian Storey and then Fra Rice produced saves from McCauley.
After the break Rice was presented with a great opportunity to open the scoring only to scuff his shot at the crucial moment.
For Ballyclare Nathan O'Neill came close just before the hour but the second half was a largely quiet affair until Smyth popped up to knock home that late winner.
