PORTS HIT BACK TO EARN POINT WITH ARDS
League leaders Portadown came from a goal down to earn a point from this visit to face Ards at the Bangor Fuels Arena.
After hitting ten goals in their last two outings Ards got off to a great start when, after 12 minutes, Salou Jallow opened the scoring with a powerful header into the roof of the net from David McAllister's perfectly delivered cross from the left.
And Ards might have doubled their advantage five minutes after that when Eamon McAllister dragged a low shot from just outside the box narrowly wide of the left post.
The Ports came close to levelling soon after when Stephen Teggart saw an effort cleared off the line with further chances later in the half coming via Stephen Murray and Adam Salley.
But it took the Ports until the 71st minute to carve out the equaliser when Lee Bonis did well to direct a header past Brian Neeson at the far post after Christopher Crane had sent the ball over from just outside the left side of the area.
Both sides had chances later in the game to secure the points with Bonis and Conall McGrandles threatening for the Ports while Ards striker Michael McLellan was superbly denied by keeper Benjamin Pierce who produced a wonder save to keep the ball out just as it look destined for the top corner.
