COMRADES TOO STRONG FOR STUDENTS
A goal in each half helped Ballyclare Comrades get the better of Queen's University at Dixon Park.
Ballyclare moved in front with just over a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock when loan signing from Crusaders, Tom Mathieson, finished well on the rebound after Ciaran Dobbin's initial effort had come off the woodwork.
The Students came close to finding the equaliser with efforts from Matthew Hughes and Jonah Mitchell but, as the game progressed, both Joe Tully and Thomas Robinson had chances to double Ballyclare's advantage.
However, Tully did make it 2-0 with six minutes left when made the most of a mix up in the defence to beat Declan Brown with ease.
Queen's ended the game with ten men following Marc McKenna's stoppage time dismissal for a second yellow card after bringing down Gary Donnelly inside the box but, from the spot-kick that followed, Tully was denied by a save from Brown.
