EARLY McCAUL STRIKE EARNS NEWRY THE WIN
Conor McCaul grabbed the only goal of the game as Newry City collected all three points from their visit to face Queen's University at The Dub.
The 28-year-old collected the ball from a throw-in and proceeded to run through the home defence before beating Declan Brown in off the post from just outside the area.
A second might have followed after Mark McCabe sent a ball over from the right across the face of goal but the incoming Adam Foley wasn't quick enough to touch it over the line.
The roles were reversal a short time later when Foley found McCabe but he could only touch the ball onto the top of the crossbar.
For Queen's Marc McKenna tested Andy Coleman but the experienced keeper made the save to keep the visitors in front.
Queen's substitute Brendan Glackin had a great chance after the break when he was played through one-on-one but he couldn't get the ball past Coleman.
But the second half was largely a succession of half chances with efforts either flashing wide or being comfortably held by both keepers.
