ARTHURS HAT-TRICK CAPS REMARKABLE WELDERS TURNAROUND
HW Welders stormed back from two goals down to sweep to a big win over Knockbreda at Breda Park.
Jonathan Smith opened the scoring for 'Breda as early as the third minute with a header past the despairing Jay McPhee after connecting with a cross from the right.
Then, barely a couple of minutes later, Jake McNeill was on hand to fire the rebound into an unguarded net after Anthony Burns initial effort had been parried by the Welders keeper.
The Welders took a little time to recover but did pull one back on 20 minutes after Matthew Ferguson turned just inside the area to send a half volley past Lewis Deane.
And Ferguson made it 2-2 seven minutes into the second half after Ross Arthurs touched the ball into his path.
Substitute Brandon Nelson edged the Welders in front just after the hour when he ran along the touchline and saw his shot on goal fumbled over the line by the home keeper.
That was how it stayed until three Arthurs goals in four minutes stunned 'Breda and secured the points for the Welders.
He scrambled home his first on 82 minutes after Scott Davidson broke free to play the ball across from the right, number two was from point blank range after a corner wasn't cleared while the third was fired into the roof of the net despite losing his footing on the edge of the six yard box.
