TUMELTY STRIKE HANDS PSNI THE POINTS
A Tony Tumelty goal early in the second half was enough for the PSNI to defeat Ards at the Bangor Fuels Arena.
Ards thought they had opened the scoring after a quarter-of-an-hour when Johnny Taylor turned a header past Dylan Stewart but it was ruled out for a foul in the box.
Michael McLellan then tested Stewart with a powerful header but the PSNI keeper did well to make a good save while, just before the break, Tumelty had the visitors best chance only for his effort to be kept out by Brian Neeson.
However, Tumelty went one better a couple of minutes into the second half when he got on the end of a punt forward to diect the ball into the home net.
The PSNI pushed on to try to extend their lead with Tumelty and then Aaron Cochrane coming close as the game progressed.
Salou Jallow had a late chance to salvage a point for Ards after meeting a Scott McMillan pass but Stewart made the save to protect the PSNI's lead.
