VILLAGERS GRAB LATE FERNEY PARK WINNER
Ballinamallard United's title ambitions suffered a blow with a home defeat to third placed Loughgall.
The Mallards trail leaders Portadown by six points and whilst it was an important win for the Villagers they are still a further seven points behind Harry McConkey's side.
Nathaniel Ferris opened the scoring for Loughgall after nine minutes when he met the ball at the near post to divert a header past John Connolly.
Ballinamallard levelled midway through the first half, however, when leading scorer Ryan Campbell knocked a left-foot finish beyond Fintan Coney.
Ferris threatened for Loughgall just after the half-hour mark but Connolly did well to block the danger while United came closest to edging into the lead in the second half through a goalmouth scramble although they couldn't quite force the ball over the line.
Nathan Cashel then had a chance with a header from a Callum Moorehead but, with just three minutes to go, it was Loughgall that secured the points when substitute Dale Malone knocked home a superbly executed free-kick.
