McCANN AND McCARTNEY ON TARGET FOR MALLARDS
Ballinamallard United swept to a Boxing Day derby win over Dergview at Ferney Park thanks to goals from Ben McCann and Jason McCartney.
McCann opened the scoring for the Mallards midway through the first half with a header past Alan Buchanan.
Dergview came close to levelling just before the break when Paul Smith turned the ball against an upright on the counter attack.
Ryan Campbell might have doubled Ballinamallard's lead early in the second half only for his effort to be ruled out offside before, just after the hour, McCartney did make it 2-0 after good work by Campbell.
Then, nine minutes from time, McCartney marked his 300th appearance for the club with his second goal of the afternoon, a glancing header from Ryan O'Reilly's cross.
