HONOURS EVEN AT DIXON PARK
It was honours even between Ballyclare Comrades and Dergview at the end of this Championship clash at Dixon Park.
Ballyclare had a good chance to open the scoring with less than a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock when Fra Nolan's free-kick from wide on the left reached Lukasz Adamczyk but his header from around ten yards went wide.
However, the deadlock was broken five minutes later at the other end when Dergview's Damien McNulty rose highest to nod home Gareth Doherty's left-sided free-kick from six yards.
The Comrades might have levelled just after the half-hour mark when Adam Gray brought forward a loose ball only to see his shot from outside the box deflected off target while, at the other end, Simon McGlynn's long range efort dipped just over the bar.
Chasing the equaliser, Ballyclare pushed hard after the break with Thomas Robinson and Jake McNeill both having efforts on goal before, on 56 minutes, Jordan Malone did level with a turn and shot from inside the area after the ball broke to him from a corner.
With both sides sensing victory chances were created at either end.
McGlynn came close for Dergview with a low effort from 20 yards while Philip Wallace flashed a shot across the face of goal from the edge of the box.
For Ballyclare Ciaran Dobbin fizzed a shot just over, Joe Tully wasn't too far wide with a free-kick from outside the area before Dergview keeper Alan Buchanan then thwarted McNeill with four minutes remaining.
