MALLARDS SWEEP PAST PSNI AT FERNEY PARK
Ballinamallard United crushed the PSNI with an impressive five-goal victory at Ferney Park to remain in second place in the Bluefin Sport Championship.
The Mallards moved in front after 16 minutes when Ryan Campbell pounced on a defensive error by Jack McAlister to sweep the ball past Daniele di Giorgio from the edge of the area.
Jason McCartney made it 2-0 just after the half-hour mark after tucking away the loose ball from six yards when di Giorgio had initially pushed out another Campbell effort.
However, Campbell did double his tally moments from the break when ran onto a ball over the top down the left, brought it into area and fired across the PSNI keeper.
And Campbell made sure of his hat-trick seven minutes into the second half. A corner was played over from the right and following a short scramble inside the area he turned to shoot into the left corner beyond di Giorgio's reach.
Nathan Cashel then completed the scoring on 71 minutes with a far post finish after McCartney had darted down the left before delivering the ball into the area.
