McGRANDLES SENDS PORTS SIX CLEAR
Conall McGrandles scored the only goal of the game as leaders Portadown defeated Ballyclare Comrades at Dixon Park on Friday night.
The former Larne, Warrenpoint Town and Cliftonville man struck five minutes before half-time after flicking Liam McKenna's inswinging corner past keeper Ben McCauley.
Portadown might have gone in front after 11 minutes when Lee Bonis and Paul Finnegan's had efforts blocked while Ballyclare came close around the half-hour mark when Thomas Robinson tested Bobby Edwards with a low drive from distance after cutting in from the right.
After the break Robinson went on a run across the box before laying the ball off for Ciaran Dobbin but Edwards comfortably made the save before Gary Donnelly flashed a later effort over.
Ballyclare continued to press for the equaliser with Donnelly curling the ball wide with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, followed by Lukasz Adamczyk having a chance into the six yard box but, again, it failed to find the target.
