TEN-MAN BALLYCLARE COLLECT WELCOME POINT AS DUNS LOSE GROUND
Dundela lost a little ground on the leading pack in the Championship following this scoreless draw at home to ten-man Ballyclare Comrades.
The Duns, now in fourth, trail third placed Ballinamallard United by three points after failing to make the most of the opportunity against a side that had only avoided defeat once in their last eight outings in all competitions.
Dundela might have raced into an early lead when Tiarnan McNicholl almost pounced upon a poor back header but Comrades defender Kyle Crawford was on hand to clear the danger.
At the other end Jonathan Doey was unlucky when his header from Gary Donnelly's corner went just over while further chances from Thomas Robinson and JB Dobbin gave Paul Harbinson's side hope that their poor run was about to be halted.
Dundela carried more of a threat after the break but were thwarted by some resolute Ballyclare defending, and were then handed a boost going into the final quarter-of-an-hour when Joe Tully was dismissed for collecting his second caution of the game.
But Dundela failed to make the most of this advantage, coming closest in stoppage time when substitute William Bingham produced a one-handed save from keeper Ben McCauley from inside the area.
