NO GOALS AT SHAMROCK PARK
Portadown and Newry City failed to find the net in this Bluefin Sport Championship Friday night encounter at Shamrock Park.
The Ports, now six points clear, had a chance inside the opening minute when Lee Bonis turned inside the box but his shot on goal was parried by Andy Coleman.
Coleman denied Bonis again a short time later while, still inside the opening ten minutes, Liam McKenna fired into the side netting.
Newry's first effort of note came midway through the first half when John McGovern saw a 20-yard drive saved by Bobby Edwards.
Paddy McNally then sent a looping header just the wrong of the left post after the half-hour mark while Newry's Thomas McCann volley just over from outside the box a few minutes after that, followed swiftly by a John Grant snapshot.
Newry threatened again on 57 minutes but Darren King's low shot from distance went just wide while, for the Ports, Conall McGrandles saw a 20-yard drive turned away by Coleman before, later in proceedings, substitute Adam Salley turned inside the box only to fire across the face of goal.
