PORTS HIT THE FRONT
Portadown moved to the top of the Bluefin Sport Championship following victory over Queen's University at Shamrock Park.
Lee Bonis grabbed two goals, his first coming on 18 minutes after taking one touch to control a pass from Stephen Teggart before unleashing an unstoppable finish past Conan Doherty just inside the post.
Queen's levelled ten minutes into the second half, courtesy of a Jonah Mitchell spot-kick awarded after Paddy McNally was adjudged to have fouled in the box.
However, Northern Ireland youth international Callum Ferris restored Portadown's lead a quarter-of-an-hour later with a strike into an open net after Martin Bradley played a George Tipton ball over the top into his path.
Then, in stoppage time, Bonis doubled his tally and knocked home his fifth goal of the campaign when he connected with a Tipton pass to beat a defender and Doherty to make sure of the points for the Ports.
