CUSHNIE AND MCMILLAN ON TARGET FOR ARDS
A goal in each half from Ben Cushnie and Scott McMillan ensured Ards defeated Ballyclare Comrades at the Bangor Fuels Arena.
New signing Cushnie, on loan from Glentoran, opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark when he showed composure to take the ball round keeper Ben McCauley to score from an angle.
Ballyclare might have levelled early in the second half through Jordan Malone only for his effort to strike the crossbar whilst, for Ards, David McAllister turned the ball against the inside of an upright.
The visitors missed another opportunity on the hour after Joe Tully saw his spot-kick well saved by Ards keeper Brian Neeson.
It proved to be a pivotal point in the game when, moments later, McMillan doubled Ards' lead after collecting the ball from Craig McMillen.
