PORTS GO SECOND AFTER ENDING DUNDELA'S UNBEATEN START
Portadown moved into second place in the Bluefin Sport Championship table ahead of opponents Dundela after a 2-0 victory at Shamrock Park.
The Ports took control of this game from the off and they had the ball in the net on 28 minutes only for Conall McGrandless’ header to be ruled out for a foul in the build-up.
The deadlock was finally broken seven minutes before the interval, as George Tipton’s corner was met by Paddy McNally who forced the ball past McBride.
Dundela’s best chance came in the second half as substitute Tiarnan McNicholl rifled a 25 yard drive which Bobby Edwards in the Portadown goal managed to push around the post at full stretch.
Another Dundela replacement Christopher Watts rattled the home team’s crossbar from inside the penalty area as they searched in vain for an equaliser to protect their unbeaten start to the season.
Portadown sealed the vital three points on 86 minutes when Aaron Duke released Lee Bonis down the right channel, he fended off defender Michael Kerr and escaped the reach of the goalkeeper before slotting home from a tight angle.
