IN FORM PSNI STRIKE EARLY TO DEFEAT COMRADES
Two quick-fire goals from PSNI in the first half proved too much for Ballyclare Comrades in this Bluefin Sport Championship clash.
Paul Harbinson's first game as new Ballyclare Comrades manager started with the home side on top with Joe Tully coming closest with his free-kick that rattled the cross bar on 11 minutes.
It was the visitors who took the lead on 19 minutes, as from a MacLeod cross found Brian Cabraley who manoeuvred into space to fire home at close range at the near post.
Four minutes later PSNI doubled their lead through when defender Reece Whittle headed home a corner through a static Ballyclare defence.
The Comrades pulled a goal back on the half hour mark through Gary Donnelly. He slid the ball under ‘keeper Di Giorgio from a narrow angle after a through ball from captain JB Dobbin.
In the second half Ciaran Dobbin went close for the home side forcing a save via the feet of Di Giorgio but that was the end of the scoring in this encounter as Ballyclare continued to push for an equaliser but couldn't find the net as they sank to a fourth consecutice defeat with PSNI leap-frogging them in the table.
