McCAVITT KNOCKS HOME LATE NEWRY WINNER
Stephen McCavitt came off the bench to knock home Newry City's winner from their visit to Ballinamallard United at Ferney Park.
The 22-year-old replaced Kevin McArdle seven minutes from time and within five minutes bagged the only goal of the game after getting through to fire past John Connolly.
Newry started the brighter of the two sides but couldn't make their possession count in what was a first half of few opportunities in front of goal.
The Mallards came closest to breaking the deadlock just before the hour when Jason McCartney hit the outside of the post with a free-kick.
Josh McIlwaine then turned the ball wide from Ryan Campbell's free-kick while, for Newry, Adam Foley headed narrowly wide before Connolly rushed out to deal with a Stefan Lavery threat.
After McCavitt's goal McIlwaine had a chance at levelling for the Mallards but he could only head Chris Kelly's corner over.
