NEWRY GET FIRST POINTS ON BOARD
Newry City finally got their first points on board with a three-goal victory over Ards at the Bangor Fuels Arena.
It took Newry just three minutes to seize the advantage when Mark Hughes gained possession in the middle of the pitch before getting past a number of defenders and firing beyond Brian Neeson into the top corner.
The visitors doubled their lead ten minutes into the second half with Lee Duffy this time finding the target at the near post after a corner was pushed away into his path.
Ards were reduced to ten men later in the game when substitute Gerard Thompson was dismissed for dissent.
Then, in stoppage time, Adam Foley completed the scoring after capitalising on a quickly taken free-kick.
