EARLY McLELLAN GOAL GIVES ARDS THE EDGE
An early Michael McLellan goal was enough to secure victory for Ards over HW Welders at the Bangor Fuels Arena.
McLellan struck after just 70 seconds against one of his former clubs with a superbly struck half volley from the edge of the box after a William Armstrong throw-in created the opening.
Both sides had numerous opportunities in an open, attacking game with the Welders perhaps coming closest to snatching the equaliser late in the game only for Jonathan Smith to see his effort from David Graham's pull back cleared off the line.
