ARDS CRUISE TO COMFORTABLE OPENING VICTORY
Ards began life back in the Bluefin Sport Championship with a comfortable four goal victory at PSNI.
The season opener was played at the PSNI's temporary home venue of the The Dub, and it was the home side who carved out the first chance of the game on 20 minutes when Sean Green saw his close range effort saved at point blank range by Brian Neeson.
It was one way traffic from then on as Warren Feeney's side took the lead with 36 minutes elapsed, Michael McLellan tapping home from David McAllister's inviting cross.
McAllister turned from provider into goalscorer for his side's second goal ten minutes into the second half, he weaved through the PSNI defence and placed his shot past the keeper and in off the post.
On 63 minutes Ards made it three when debutant TJ Murray found space one-on-one with the goalkeper and cooly placed the ball out of his reach.
It continued to be a game dominated by the North Down side as David McAllister's effort came off the cross bar and then McLellan had a goal disallowed for offside.
PSNI's best chance of the half came after 77 minutes when Nathan O'Neill could only rue his header going narrowly wide of Neeson's goal.
Deep into stoppage time, Michael McLellan scored his second and Ards' fourth of the afternoon to claim a first three points of the season in style.
