WIN SEES WHITES GO FOURTH

Lisburn Distillery moved into fourth spot in the table with victory over Newington at Solitude.

After the sides traded chances during the opening half-an-hour or so it fell to Nick Beta to break the deadlock in favour of the Whites when, on 33 minutes, he hammered the ball past Jason Craughwell after Joe Reid nodded Aaron Harris' free-kick into his path.

And Harris played his part again in the opening minute of the second half with a superb through ball to tee Matthew Swann up to lob the advancing Craughwell to double Distillery's advantage.

However, Newington pulled a goal back just six minutes later when the ball broke for Francis Dugan who duly drilled a finish beyond Jonah Nicholl from just inside the area.

The Swans might have levelled towards the end when substitute Robbie McVarnock saw an effort come back off an upright before falling to safety.
