SWANS FIGHT BACK TO SECURE CRUCIAL WIN

The Whites started strongly, taking the lead on 11 minutes when a Gary Workman ball bypassed the Newington defence to put Matthew Ferguson through to beat 'keeper Dean Smyth one-on-one.

Newington came close to equalising on 38 minutes when Richard Gowdy made a great run into the box, beating three defenders, only to blast the ball over the crossbar from just a few yards out.

However, Gowdy went one better just before the break with a volley from inside the box to level the score.

The Swans then sealed the points not long after the hour mark when Liam Bracken got his head to a Chris McFall free-kick to direct the ball beyond the reach of 'keeper Jonah Nicholl.
