Ballymoney United scorer Gavin Gilmore (Picture: Darren Kidd/

TWO first-half goals gave Ballymoney victory against a lack-lustre Leisure outfit at Glen Road on Saturday.

The visitors went in front on 27mins when LeisUre full back Daniel Largey deflected Trevor McLernan's twenty yard effort past keeper keeper Damien Nugent.

The home side should have equalised from the restart. After forcing a corner Tony Heagney rose unchallenged to meet Darren Munsters kick but inexplicable headed against the upright with the goal at his mercy.

Just one minute later and Ballymoney had doubled their lead. This time it was a neat finish from Gavin Gilmore that did the damage.

While the first half wasn't much of a spectacle the second half was instantly forgettable with both keepers rarely tested.

To be fair the conditions didn't help but credit to the visitors they set about defending their lead manfully and left Belfast worthy winners.
