PSNI took a huge step towards securing their Championship status with a comprehensive victory over Annagh United in the first leg of the play-offs at Tandragee Road.

Ruairi McDonald opened the scoring for Annagh after half-an-hour, knocking home at the second attempt after his initial effort was blocked by keeper Ben McCauley.

Dylan Wilson levelled for the PSNI on the stroke of half-time after being released down the right before firing across Shane McPartlan into the opposite corner of the net.

Owen Moody made it 2-1 early in the second half after he was quickest to react to the loose ball after McPartlan could only parry a low free-kick played into the box.

Tony Tumelty added a third on 65 minutes with a low strike from just outside the area past the outstretched keeper before doubling his tally late in the game after evading a number of tackles to slot home into the far corner.

The return will be at Newforge on Friday evening, kick-off 6:30pm.
