A Ronan Young goal was enough to keep Queen's University top of the Bluefin Sport Premier Intermediate League with victory over Lisburn Distillery at The Dub.

Queen's started the game off looking the more confident of the two teams coming close to scoring in the first minute through Ciaran O'Hare who blasted one well over the bar.

Distillery came close to getting a goal on the 16th minute as the ball fell to Johnathan McCaw on the edge of the box but his left-foot volley went marginally wide of the target.

However, it was Queen's who came the closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half through Young who found himself with acres of space at the back post. His volley beat Distillery 'keeper Jonah Nicholl but was cleared off the line by defender Joe Reid.

But Young had better luck with what proved to be the only goal of the game on 69 minutes when he ran onto a Matthew Hughes pass to slot the ball to the right side of the 'keeper before going in off the upright.

Young came close to getting a second goal on the 78th minute as he made space for himself on the edge of the box, taking his time to curl a shot towards the left post, only to be saved by the diving Nicholl who tipped the ball round the post for a corner.
