McALINDEN FINDS THE TARGET FOR CELTIC

A Kevin McAlinden goal seven minutes from time helped Lurgan Celtic defeat Portstewart at Mullaghacall.

Substitute Niall Lavery, returning from suspension, created the opening with a ball played into McAlinden who duly responded with a drilled finish past keeper Joel Madison.

It went some way to gaining revenge for Celtic's Irish Cup reversal to the Seahawks back in November and despite some late Portstewart pressure the Hoops held on to secure their first win on the road since an Intermediate Cup victory over Killyleagh YC over a month earlier.

Portstewart: Madison, Watt, Lindsay, Peden, Steele, Vauls, Forgrave, Law, McCaughan, Doherty, McKinley subs J. Bradley (replaced Forgrave 62), Heneghan (replaced Lindsay 75), McClements (replaced Doherty 80), Hamilton (not used), Tumilson (not used)
