LATE DOUBLE PUTS BRAKES ON TOBERMORE TITLE HOPES

Title chasing Tobermore United fell to defeat to Dollingstown thanks to a couple of late goals at Fortwilliam Park.

Both teams battled from the start with the home side forcing a corner inside the first minute but the chance fizzled out. There were numerous attacks at both ends but neither team could break the deadlock in the first half.

Tobermore started the second half the stronger of the two teams with the woodwork denying them the opener on the hour mark whilst, moments after that, the crossbar came to their rescue to thwart a Keith Johnston effort.

The visitors had a number of chances to get the opener but Tobermore keeper Lukasz Bednarz and his defence stood strong.

Eventually, Dollingstown's hard work paid off when David Richmond crossed the ball to Johnston who had his shot well saved by Bednarz but Gary Liggett was on hand to slot in the rebound.

Then, a couple of minutes later, Johnston got his reward to double Dollingstown's lead and secure the points.
