Banbridge Town swept to a crushing 5-1 defeat of struggling Armagh City at Holm Park.

Stephen McCavitt opened the scoring after the visitors broke down the right before the ball was played into his path to knock past Daniel Devine with a well taken shot.

He added a second just before the hour after beating the offside trap but Edilson Tavares pulled one back for the Eagles on 77 minutes from Caio Ferreita's cross to set up a grandstand finish.

However, just six minutes after that, Conor Downey restored Banbridge's two-goal cushion with a 20-yard finish into the bottom corner after being afforded too much time and space.

Then, on 90 minutes, Banbridge made a triple substitution and one of these, Matthew McCartan popped up with two goals in stoppage time.

The first, on 91 minutes, was bundled over the line after the home defence failed to deal with a corner before he added a fifth in the third minute of added time.
