ANNAGH HIT SIX TO MOVE BACK INTO POLE POSITION

Annagh United moved back to the top of the table following a thumping home defeat of Newington.

John Convery opened the scoring after just five minutes when he got his head to a Niall Henderson free-kick to direct the ball past Jason Craughwell.

Brian McIlmurray doubled Annagh's lead with a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock after being played through by Scott McCordick to round the keeper and slot home.

McCordick got his name on the scoresheet just a couple of minutes after that after Convery and Craig Taylor combined down the left to create the opening.

Robbie McVarnock pulled one back for the visitors five minutes before the break with his fourth goal of the campaign but Ruairi McDonald restored Annagh's three-goal cushion soon after Taylor had delivered the decisive cross.

After a lull in scoring McDonald grabbed Annagh's fifth on 70 minutes when the ball fell for him from a deflected Taylor effort before, not long after, McCordick rounded things off after receiving the ball from Henderson to take it past a defender and beat Craughwell for a sixth time.
