Ambitious Bluefin Sport Championship side Larne have announced their latest big name signing in former Dundalk striker Thomas Stewart.

The 31-year-old former Northern Ireland Under-21 international was announced by the Inver Park club on Saturday before their 3-2 victory over Newry City. Stewart began his career with Wolverhampton Wanderers before spells at Linfield, Derry City, Shamrock Rovers, Partick Thistle, Sacremento Republic and Ottawa Fury.

The forward’s last spell was with League of Ireland club Dundalk, after he joined Stephen Kenny’s side in February this year after three years playing in North America.

Stewart is the latest of Larne manager Tiernan Lynch’s signings ahead of the January transfer window opening; with David McDaid (Waterford United), Ciaran Caldwell, Chris Ramsey, Martin Donnelly (all Cliftonville) and Peter Finnegan (Longford Town).

Next up for Larne in the Bluefin Sport Championship is against H&W Welders on Saturday 13 January (kick-off 3pm)
