Mark Anderson might have opened the scoring for the PSNI as early as the fourth minute when he 18-yard free-kick, which looke destined for the top corner, was well saved by 'keeper Conor Devlin.

At the other end David Abe was thwarted by a stop from Jordan Williamson before, just short of the quarter-of-an-hour mark, David Scullion opened the scoring for Larne with a 25-yard curler which beat Williamson in off an upright.

Larne almost doubled their advantage on 20 minutes when Darren Stuart’s header hit the ground before bouncing over the crossbar while an Abe shot a short time after that was turned away by Williamson.

Williamson denied Larne once more before the break, this time saving Ralph Kottoy's free-kick from the edge of the box.

Larne did double their lead early in the second half, however, when Scullion got on the end of the through ball to tap the ball into the back of the net.

On the hour mark, PSNI got one back courtesy of an Anderson curling volley, which went into the top right hand corner past Devlin.

Five minutes from time, substitute Daniel Reynolds nearly made it 3-1 only to see his low curling effort tipped round the post.

In the 89th minute, in a last-gasp attempt to get a point from the game, PSNI substitute Jonathan McCcurg shot low, but narrowly wide of the goal.
