Warrenpoint Town moved to the top of the NIFL Championship with victory at a very wet Breda Park.

A fine move on 28 minutes saw Knockbreda's Richard Gibson skew an attempt on goal. Two minutes later the home defence could only partially clear a cross and the ball was placed high into the net for the visitors to take the lead through John McGuigan.

'Breda almost equalised on 35 minutes when a fine low drive from captain Stephen McCain from outside the box saw the keeper make a great save.

The second half was end to end with the visitors extending their lead just after the hour. A shot was well saved by home 'keeper Ryan McBride but fell to Warrenpoint substitute Conor McMenamin to pass into the net.

Knockbreda continued to press forward and on 80 minutes were rewarded with a well taken goal from substitute Michael Halliday but Warrenpoint held on to take all three points and go top of the league.
