McELENEY ON BOARD AT INVER

The latest Larne signing of the Inver Park revolution was announced on Saturday with the acquisition of defender Shane McEleney.

The 26-year-old returns to Northern Ireland following a short spell in Canada with USL side Ottowa Fury. McEleney had began his career with his native Derry City, spending seven seasons at the Brandywell and was part of the side which won the FAI Cup in 2012.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 defender also had a two year spell at St. Patrick’s Athletic before moving to Canada in December 2016.

He joins a Larne side in great form heading towards the ‘split’ in the Bluefin Sport Championship, and his the sixth of Tiernan Lynch’s January signings alongside Davy McDaid (Waterford), Ciaran Caldwell, Martin Donnelly, Chris Ramsey (all Cliftonville), Peter Finnegan (Longford Town) and Tommy Stewart (Dundalk).

Next up: Larne face HW Welders in the Bluefin Sport Championship on Saturday (13 January) at Inver Park (kick-off 3pm)
