INSTITUTE moved five points behind leaders Ards with this defeat of Loughgall at Lakeview Park, bolstered by a Michael McCrudden hat-trick.

Both sides threatened with the visitors having a McCrudden curling shot well saved by 'keeper Gareth Buchanan while Loughgall came close when James Lindsay headed narrowly over.

In the 49th minute Stephen Parkhouse’s driven effort struck the post and McCrudden scored the rebound from a very tight angle.

McCrudden doubled 'Stute's advantage on 67 minutes with a wonderful solo goal. He collected the ball on the right flank, skilfully evaded the home defence, and finished the move with a sublime strike into the far top corner.

The Villagers grabbed a goal back five minutes later when Mark Stewart picked his spot following a Jeff Brady corner, but McCrudden scored a carbon copy of his second goal, only from the other wing, to cap a wonderful individual performance.
