Carrick Rangers continue their preparations for the Bluefin Sport Championship with the arrival of Caolan Loughran on loan from Ballymena United.

Loughran joins for the duration of the season having been transfer listed by Sky Blues’ boss David Jeffrey after an injury ravaged campaign at the Showgrounds last year.

New manager Niall Currie has made a fleet of important signings for the recently relegated East Antrim side as they look to bounce back at the first attempt from a hugely competitive Championship.

Signings to date include: Stewart Nixon (Ballyclare Comrades), Reece Neale (Linfield), Francis Brennan (Portadown), Neil Lowry (formerly of Ballymena United), Aaron Hogg (Ards), Craig McMillan (Ards), Tre Sterling (Glentoran), Wesley Patterson (Linfield) and local lad Ashton McDermott.

Departing the Belfast Loughshore Hotel Arena are Aaron Smyth and Brendan Glackin who have joined St James’ Swifts, whilst teenager Liam Hassin has moved to neighbours Larne. Defender Damien McNulty joins Cliftonville, whilst winger Eamon McAllister has returned to his former club Ards.
