LATE FIRST HALF HEADERS SET LARNE ON COURSE FOR VICTORY

Goals from Harry Flowers, Albert Watson and Johnny McMurray helped Larne to a comfortable defeat of Glenavon at Mourneview Park.

Larne had the better chances in the first half with perhaps the most promising opening coming through David McDaid with a deflected effort which Jonny Tuffey did well to keep out.

However, two goals just before the break put the visitors very much in the driving seat.

On 38 minutes a Marty Donnelly corner from the right was headed home by Flowers at the near post. Then, moments from the interval, Larne doubled their tally with a carbon copy finish with this time Watson nodded the ball beyond Tuffey.

Glenavon did pull a goal back just after the break. Fuad Sule was adjudged to have brought down Josh Daniels just inside the area with Stephen Murray duly sending Conor Devlin the wrong way from the spot.

But, with a quarter-of-an-hour to go, Larne made sure of the points when Lee Lynch delivered from the right side of the area for McMurray to beat Tuffey with an acrobatic finish on the edge of the six yard box.
