Adam Wright (41)

Dickson Chisanga (52)

On a bitterly cold day at Newforge the quality of football produced by both teams was indeed a credit and a great advert for Championship football in front of one of the largest crowds seen this season.

Right from the start both teams played open attractive football but the PSNI had to rely on the woodwork and 'keeper Jordan Williamson for keeping a clean sheet at half time.

Conor Devlin, in the Larne goal, wasn't just as busy, but he too had to come to Larne's rescue.

However, it was from a corner by James Wright in the 41st minute that broke the deadlock. It was met at the far post by brother Adam and his clean header saw the ball in the back of the Larne net.

Prior to that Larne saw a long effort bounce off the home crossbar in the 12th minute. On 16 minutes Williamson made a diving save to his right and his fingertips cleared the danger.

Joe McWilliams had the ball in the Larne net on 27 minutes from a header only to be ruled out after the referee spotted a foul.

The woodwork again came to the PSNI rescue on 34 minutes when a thunderous effort hit the crossbar and Williamson was on hand to collect the rebound.

The second half didn't produce the same excitement as the first but some would say Larne deserved at least a point from the game and it duly arrived in the 52nd minute Dickson Chisanga made the most of a mistake at the back and beat Williamson with a hard low shot.
