LARNE COMEBACK EXTENDS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD

Bluefin Sport Championship leaders Larne came from behind against HW Welders to maintain their superb unbeaten start to the campaign.

Martin Donnelly set the visitors on their way with 25 minutes gone, he capitalised on an error in the Welders defence to slip home his 15th league goal of the season for the Invermen.

The goal settled the league leaders, who held their lead going into the half time break and could have potentially been further ahead with David McDaid striking the crossbar with a superb effort.

Norman Kelly’s Welders side rallied at the break and produced an equaliser seven minutes into the second half as Lukas Gwiazda rose highest to beat two Larne players to head home a free-kick.

The home side’s leading marksman stunned Larne with his sixth of the season, on 58 minutes. Gwiazda started and finished a smart move with a neat one-two, before placing the ball past Devlin to put his side in the lead.

Larne bounced back within five minutes, as Liam Hassin received the ball on the edge of the opposition penalty area before unleashing a fierce drive past Brown to level the scores.

On 79 minutes, Larne went back in front as Ben Tilney remained calm in front of goal to slot home the winner which extends their lead at the top of the Championship to six points.
