HONOURS EVEN AFTER TIGHT ENCOUNTER AT BREDA PARK

Knockbreda and PSNI earned an equal share of the points and the goals from this tight Bluefin Sport Championship encounter at Breda Park.

With plenty to play for both teams started nervously in windy conditions and neither could keep possession of the ball for long.

The visitors did have an early shout for a penalty declined after a strong run into the box by centre forward Lukasz Adamczyk.

It was however 'Breda who took the lead on 26 minutes when a long throw into the visitors box by David Culbert was met, from eight yards out, by Lloyd Anderson whose header went high into the net with PSNI 'keeper Jordan Williamson stranded.

The lead was fairly short lived when 'Breda failed to deal with a cross into their box from a free-kick. The ball fell to Ashton McDermott who finished well from six yards with a well hit low volley.

With Breda's forwards continuing to cause problems for the visitors it was experienced centre forward Michael Halliday who created Breda's second goal just on the halftime whistle. His strength and control led to his pass in the box to the feet of Brendan Bennett who turned past a defender and fired low into the net.

The second half was also very tight but 'Breda had chances to extend their lead before the visitors levelled on 86 minutes with a well taken headed goal from six yards by damczyk.
