Scott Davidson scored twice as HW Welders defeated Carrick Rangers at the Belfast Loughshore Hotel Arena.

Luckas Gwiazda opened the scoring for the Welders after nine minutes when he connected with Ross Arthurs' cross to direct a header past Aaron Hogg.

And the 24-year-old might have doubled the lead before the break from close range but, on this occasion, he saw his effort well saved by the home keeper.

Rangers were denied an equaliser on 54 minutes when Welders keeper Ryan Brown saved from Stewart Nixon before three goals in four minutes saw the game roar into life.

The Welders went two goals up on 72 minutes when a blocked effort from Arthurs fell for Davidson inside the area to slot home.

Carrick pulled a goal back moments later when Daniel Kelly jostled for position at the near post to direct home a corner delivered from the left.

The scoring continued with just under a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when Charlie Dornan touched a Gwiazda pass into the path of Chris Morrow who duly showed great composure to finish into the bottom right corner.

Davidson completed the scoring with four minutes left after sidestepping a defender on the edge of the area to fire a fourth past Hogg.
