Larne have started their push for promotion from the Bluefin Sport Championship next season with the acquisition of Tomas Cosgrove from Cliftonville.

The 25-year-old full back has moved to Inver Park on a three year deal and joins Crusaders’ goalkeeper Michael Dougherty who has also joined the Larne in a player / coach role.

Cosgrove, a product of the Cliftonville youth team, has been an integral part of the recent success at Solitude, winning two Danske Bank Premiership titles in 2013 and 2014 and four consecutive League Cups. He leaves the club having secured qualification to the Europa League in the Playoff final in his final game for the club.

Speaking to the Larne’s social media Cosgrove stated; “I want to be part of a new challenge. I want to come here and play football the way I want to play football!”

Meanwhile, the Solitude Reds have last week announced new contract extensions for Jay Donnelly and Levi Ives, whilst Jude Winchester will be leaving the club.

The duo of Cosgrove and Dougherty make it a trio of new arrivals for Tiernan Lynch’s ambitious side as they join Jeff Hughes who leaves Tranmere Rovers to return home to his local team after over a decade away.
