In an evenly balanced first half, there hadn't been anything to test the 'keepers until the latter stages, when two goals were exchanged in quick succession.

In the 38th minute, a Gary Brown shot from inside the box looked to be going wide until deflected in by the unfortunate Mark Stewart.

Then, from the restart, Stewart redeemed himself when his speculative punt into the box from distance bounced wickedly off the surface, deceiving Alan Blayney and flying over the 'keeper's leap and into the net.

After a scrappy opening to the second half, Comrades stepped up the pace in the last quarter. They grabbed the lead in the 66th minute, corner saw the ball find its way to Mark Kelly inside the 6-yard box. Despite having his back to goal and being closely marked, he managed to turn and squeeze a shot into the net.

The home side had a number of chances to increase their lead, but had to be content with a one-goal victory.
