VILLAGERS HOLD ON AT LAKEVIEW
On form Loughgall overcame the determined challenge of Championship opponents Ballyclare Comrades at Lakeview Park.
The visitors started brightly, almost moving in front on 18 minutes when Callum Ferris struck an upright from around 25 yards out.
But they did seize the advantage a short time later after Ronan McAleer's crossed from the left evaded everyone before Harry Wylie slotted home at the back post.
The Villagers levelled just after the half-hour mark, however, courtesy of Charlie McCrory's stabbed finish after the Comrades failed to clear a corner.
Then, eight minutes after the break, Aaron Duke nodded Loughgall in front with a header against the run of play before, on 63 minutes, Andrew Hoey added a third with a low shot in off an upright.
To their credit Ballyclare kept plugging away and almost pulled one back ten minutes after that only for Alan McMurtry to knock an effort off the woodwork from outside the area.
And they set up a grandstand finish in the closing stages after Darius Roohi did find the net with a superb strike after being teed up by Michael Morgan ... but the Villagers held on to book their place in the next round.
