GLENTORAN GRIND OUT CUP WIN AGAINST DOLLYBIRDS
Ten man Glentoran progressed to the next round of the BetMcLean Cup after a goal in each half against visitors Dollingstown.
There was almost an early cup shock at the BetMcLean Oval as Dollingstown’s Jonathan Ewart had the ball in the back of the net after just two minutes, but was quickly ruled out for offside.
It was the Premiership side that eventually took the lead with 18 minutes elapsed, Daire O’Connor grabbing the goal after a fine through ball from David Fisher.
Glentoran doubled their lead six minutes into the second half as Fisher’s effort was deflected into the path of George Feeney, and the teenager finished past McCauley Cairns.
The home side were reduced to ten men on 73 minutes when Johnny Russell earned a straight red card for poor challenge.
