FIVE STAR ARDS BLITZ MALLARDS
An superb five goal performance on the road from Ards at Ballinamallard United earned their place in the next round of the BetMcLean Cup.
The visitors raced into the lead after just four minutes as Salou Jallow found space down the right and cut the ball back for Max Millar who slotted the ball home.
Jallow and Millar combined again on twelve minutes, and the latter headed past Jamie Ray to double Ards’ lead at Ferney Park.
Right on the half-time whistle, Matthew Tipton’s Ards side added a third goal to kill the tie as Eamonn Scannell’s corner was headed home by defender Adam McCallum.
The Mallards regrouped at the break and pulled a goal back on 54 minutes when Peter Maguire’s header found its way past the Ards defence and into the goal.
Ards were awarded a penalty on 65 minutes as Johnston brought down Jallow, and James McLaughlin stepped up to put his side 4-1 ahead.
Karl Hamill added the fifth and final goal of a memorable Ards performance as he rose highest to power a header past Ray to confirm their place in Round Two.
